William F. Keller FOP wins Babe Ruth league championship

William F. Keller FOP's Mark Kirschner hits a 2 RBI shot in the championship.

ALPENA, Mich. — The Alpena Huron Shore Babe Ruth league is coming to an end with playoffs this week. The 13-15 year-old teams took their skills to the big state at the Alpena Wildcat Varsity Field. The championship pitted LeFave Pharmacy vs. William F. Keller #107 FOP.

The boys in light blue took the early 4-3 lead in the top of the second, before the navy kids got on a roll. Cam Stevens hit an RBI double to tie up the game at four. After a bases loaded walk, Mark Kirschner brought home Stevens and Caleb Donajkowski to extend the lead 7-4.

LeFave Pharmacy fought back in the third thanks to an error in the outfield as Gabe Glawe’s pop up to left brought home Alex Cadarette. The boys in light blue would add a few more runs in the long outing, but William F. Keller #107 FOP took home the championship with a 13-8 victory.
