Mia McGregor Scores 46 Points in Regional Semifinal Versus Gaylord St Mary
Kalkaska, MI – It was all Mia McGregor in the MHSAA girls’ basketball regional semifinal against Gaylord St Mary. Despite McGregor’s efforts, the Snowbirds pulled away with the 61-54 win on Monday night.
The Mio Thunderbolts (20-5) trailed by just one point after the first quarter. The Gaylord St Mary Snowbirds (17-8) had two scoring stars with the duo of Kaylee Jeffers and Payton Glasby. Throughout the second, the score went back-and-forth. McGregor took a step back to knock down a three-pointer with seconds left before halftime giving Mio a 23-22 lead.
McGregor kept her pace going into the third quarter. Yet the pair of Jeffers and Glasby did the same as the Snowbirds led 39-36 heading into the fourth quarter. The freshman from Mio tallied 46 total points in the team’s 61-54 loss. The Snowbirds advance to the regional final on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Frankfort.
