Wildcats look to make school history against TC West
Alpena Wildcats prep for Traverse City West (September 18, 2018)
Alpena — The Wildcats football team started their season with a (2-0) record for the first time since 2004, but two losses later and Alpena has the same record as their next opponent Traverse City West.
The Wildcats have not defeated the Titans in 21 total games played against each other in school history. This could be the year for Head coach Aaron Sims and the Wildcats who says it’s up to their defense to step up and make plays.
The Wildcats are entering this game after a close Big North Conference loss to Cadiallac 14-13, but now the green and white are back at home for the first time since week one.
“Focus, it’s a lot of focus,” said senior Bob Sheldon. “Even though it’s a tough loss against Cadillac and shouldn’t have happened, we’re going to come out and punch them right in the mouth from the beginning.”
Alpena’s victory over Escanaba week one may have been the catalyst for a successful season considering both of their losses were by two touchdowns or less.
