Bunting Pays Off for Posen – Headed to Districts

Posen Senior Avery Werth hit a bunt in the seventh inning to help the Vikings defeat Rogers City in Division 4 Pre-Districts.

 

Rogers City, Mich. — Pre-Districts between Posen and Rogers City was do or die in baseball. This battle went to extra innings.

Vikings’ Mark Wisniewski finished as the big hero of the game. The Junior knocked in an RBI that made it 3 to 0 Posen.

The fifth was the difference maker. Michael Karsten hit his second RBI of the day, short of a homer, and the game was tied at 3-all.

This game ended in the seventh inning when Lucas Stone hit the game winning bunt. Coach Pat Kowalski wanted bunts and his team hit five. Jared Sharpe made it home before the error at home plate, and that is when Wisniewski ran home for the 6 to 3 lead.

Hurons’ Karsten had another chance at bat, but his ball was caught by Junior Jared Kamyszek for the final out of the game.

The Vikings walked away as the victors with the 6 to 3 win over Rogers City. They now advance to Division 4 Districts on Saturday, June 2nd.

After the game pitcher Sharpe was happy about the win.

“Rogers City whooped on us when they played in Posen,” Sharpe said. “It was good to get them back when it counted too.”

This will be a game that Posen will never forget.
