Alpena Township amends blight ordinance.
ALPENA, Mich. – Alpena Township has amended its blight ordinance.
Township Board of Trustees adopted ordinance 147, which increases penalties for offenders.
WBKB spoke with Supervisor Nathan Skibbe when the amendment was first introduced.
He said it will prevent residents from abusing the system.
“Unfortunately some of the people that have been or have gone through the process know the timeline and unfortunately instead of making improvements in that time, they continue to exhibit abusive behaviors, said Skibbe. “The township needs a mechanism to be able to afford residents some solution.”
The amended ordinance will go in affect after it’s published in the coming days.
