Bagley Street Bridge update — August 13, 2021

ALPENA, Mich. – Construction on the Bagley Street Bridge continues.

The Alpena County Road Commission had a special delivery of beams this week.

Cranes and trucks started placing the beams on Tuesday.

The road commission said more beams are on the way to help complete the process.

“All the beams have been paced for the south half of the bridge,” said Road Commission Manager Ryan Brege. “They placed 20 beams this week, and they have 20 beams to place nest week for a total of 40 beams for the bridge.”

Next week the last 20 beams are scheduled for delivery for the north end of the bridge. Then, contractors can start forming the bridge deck.

Brege said the beams weigh 90 thousand pounds and are 80 feet long.
