A Day for history in Alpena

Aidan Day scores 48th career goal for Alpena against Petoskey. (September 20, 2018)

Alpena (September 20, 2018) — The Alpena Wildcats hosted the Petoskey Northmen Thursday evening, and fans waited until the second half for the first goal of the game. Aidan Day dribbled and scored his 48th goal from deep outside the box making history for Alpena. 2017 AHS graduate, Evan LeTourneau, held the lead scoring record at 47.

Petoskey countered with less than seven minutes to go in the game. Northmen Nick Hicks tied up the match at 1-all, and that was the final score. The Wildcats are now (0-2-3) in Big North Conference play and (6–4-3) overall.

“You have all that momentum and then it just gets taken away,” said Day. “We didn’t let another one get up. We didn’t give up another goal and usually it happens a lot. Momentum switches. They get another one, but we held fast after that goal.:

The Wildcats take the pitch again this Saturday at 10 a.m. against Cheboygan at the Huron Shores Invitational.
