Alpena volleyball practice (September 17, 2018)

Alpena — The Wildcats volleyball team are looking for their first home victory against Big North Conference opponent Traverse City West. Alpena is (1-2) in BNC play and (6-5-1) overall for the season. Key players for the green and while will be Allie DeRocher the leader in attacks and blocks, Allison Precord the leader of assists and Alexis Pilarski the team leader for defense with digs.

Alpena has an insurgent momentum going into the TC West game after losing to Cadillac in five sets 3-2. Set three ended in Cadillac’s favor 36-34. A typical set ends at 25.

“Everyone was just exhausted, but still so excited,” said outside hitter Emma Dockrill. “Nothing was hitting the floor and I think they hit a tip and they got it. It was the most intense game any of us have ever played.”

Now the Wildcats hope to do the same thing, but this time get the win against TC West.

“We just need to bring the energy back again like we did the first two and three sets,” said Pilarski. “It was just great! We were all fighting. We were all together. We were all hyped. We were all just going for everything. Just killing it.”

Traverse City West and Alpena hit the court on Tuesday, September 18, at 7 p.m.
