ACC adds Posen all-state catcher Brooke Ciarkowski to softball roster

Posen catcher Brooke Ciarkowski signs to play softball at Alpena Community College.

ALPENA, Mich. — The Alpena Community College softball team signed Posen catcher Brooke Ciarkowski to their squad. She will play just over 30 minutes away from her hometown in Presque Isle County.

“It’s great. I love being at home and having my family around,” said Ciarkowski. “Being able to come to the games and everything.”

The Division 4 all-state honorable mention athlete finished her senior season at bat with 42 hits, two home runs, 47 runs and 32 RBI’s. She also put up a .636 batting average and .733 on base percentage.

Ciarkowski is very smart behind the plate and will be a great addition to the Lumberjacks. One of the reasons she chose ACC is because of her experience playing under Lumberjack Softball Head Coach Christin Sobeck.

“I play travel ball with Coach Sobeck,” said Ciarkowski. “I know how she coaches and love the way she coaches, so to be able to play with her is really great.”

The former Viking will get one last chance to play at the high school level after being selected for the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association’s Division 4 all-star game.
