Whitmer pushes lawmakers to sign relief bill

LANSING, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer called on Michigan lawmakers to pass the COVID-19 relief bill on Monday afternoon.

In her call to the legislature, Whitmer cited details of the plan. She plans to use $90 million in federal funding to ramp up the vaccination process. From that funding, Whitmer says funding will insure support for local health departments, vaccine administration costs, staffing, equipment and supplies.

Her goal is to put 50 shots in arms each day, which will allow Michigan to reach their goal of vaccinating 70 percent of Michiganders by the end of August.
