Chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight until midday Friday

Cloud cover is increasing this evening ahead of a cold front moving into Michigan. The cold front will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight through midday Friday. Drier conditions off to the northwest will build in Friday afternoon-evening, then cooler temperatures will move in Saturday.


The chance of showers will be greatest early Friday, then taper later in the day. We should end up with dry weather Friday night through most of Sunday. Then the next storm system will move into Northern Michigan Sunday, bringing in some rain late.

High temperatures Thursday heated up to 86 degrees in Alpena, 85 degrees in Traverse City, Michigan and 82 degrees in Saginaw, Michigan. Winds out of the WSW will keep warm temperatures in play for Friday with highs mainly in the lower 80s.

Friday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms through midday, then becoming drier. Predawn low temperatures will be near 61 degrees. Afternoon highs will get up to about 84 degrees. Evening temperatures will head into the 70s.

Saturday: Partly cloudy. Early-morning lows will drop to around 56 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach close to 76 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool to the 60s.

Sunday: Dry for most of the day, increasing clouds, then showers will move in during the evening. Early-morning lows will head down to about 50 degrees. Temperatures will warm to highs near 79 degrees in the afternoon. Evening temperatures will go from the lower 70s to upper 60s.
