Pied Piper students will be having a plant sale this weekend using plants they grew at their school’s greenhouse.

“We try to have it be 90% the student participation. All the flowers are grown here on site. We started from either seeds or plugs. Students planting all of them, watering and taking care of them since we started back in March” said Beth Lucas, Paraprofessional at Pied Piper school.

The students will be selling an assortment of plant products such as tomatoes, petunias, dahlias, window boxes and decorative planters.

“It is tied to, life skills that we’re teaching the students, so they have the opportunity to work and providing them job opportunities. So they have to work in the greenhouse and learn how to grow flowers as well as vegetables for healthy living through vocational job skills, prepping them for the future” said Lauren Grulke, Principal at Pied Piper school.

Pied pier school has also partnered with the city and will plant 13 pots along the alley of the  postal district over the summer.

“The students really enjoy it, and I, like I say we’re out there every day, and we, the students are always volunteering to come out now. Yeah, and they take pride in the fact that they can see their flower from a seed to a full flower” said Lucas.

The plant sale is cash and check only and will take place at the Pied Piper greenhouse on May 10th from 9:30am to 2:30 pm and May 11th from 9:00am– 12pm.
