Dry for most of Father’s Day weekend, rain arrives Sunday night

High temperatures Friday heated up to 87 degrees in Alpena, 89 degrees in Oscoda, Michigan and 85 degrees in Rogers City. Winds out of the north-northeast will bring cooler temperatures for Saturday.

Showers and thunderstorms early this morning cleared out by midday, and we’ll see dry weather continue through Sunday afternoon. The next round of wet weather is currently affecting Colorado and Utah. It will move toward the northeast and reach our area Sunday evening.

Future Rainfall shows a potential of 0.5-1 inch of rain throughout Northeast Michigan. These rainfall amounts would benefit the area, partially alleviating drought conditions. The steadiest rainfall will happen Sunday night.

Saturday: Partly cloudy. Early-morning lows will head down to about 55 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach close to 74 degrees. Evening temperatures will head into the 60s.

Sunday (Father’s Day): Dry for most of the day, increasing clouds, then rain arrives in the evening. Predawn lows will drop to near 50 degrees. Afternoon highs will warm to around 79 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool from the middle 70s to middle 60s.

Monday: Chance of showers early, windy and drying out. Early-morning lows will be close to 50 degrees. Afternoon highs will get up to about 71 degrees. Evening temperatures will go from the middle 60s down to the middle 50s.
