ALPENA, MI – The Alpena boys basketball team hosted the tough Cadillac Vikings in a game benefitting the community of Escanaba on Thursday night.

Cadillac’s strong defense kept Alpena’s offense at bay all night. Despite the loss, Alpena’s guard, Devin Lamay, returned to the lineup for the first time this season. The Wildcats kept up with Cadillac in the first quarter, but Alpena’s defense couldn’t keep up in the second.

Going into halftime, Cadillac led 31-13 over the Wildcats. The Vikings kept on rolling in the second half to earn the 70-33 win over Alpena. Junior, Easton Srebnik, led in scoring for Alpena with 16 points. Lamay followed up scoring 12 points for the Wildcats.

Jayden Montague and Charlie Howell were the top scorers for Cadillac. Montague finished with a game-high of 20 points and Howell clocked in 16.

The game benefitted the Weaver Family as many fans wore orange and black to support the community of Escanaba. Alpena High School raised $2,300 to send to the Weaver’s.

The Wildcats visit Ogemaw Heights on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
