Study finds racial disparity in traffic stops
LANSING, Mich. — In a virtual press conference Wednesday afternoon, State Police Director Joe Gasper confirmed that an MSU study of 2020 traffic data showed troopers pulled over black drivers more often than white ones.
In response to these findings, Gasper announced several programs to combat police bias, including training, body cameras, and policy reviews.
He said Michiganders deserve transparency and accountability.
These changes will roll out in the coming months.
