Wrona nets three in win over Fairview

FAIRVIEW, Mich. — Last Saturday was a rough day for the Oscoda Owls boys varsity soccer team. Not only they dropped a pair of losses to Ogemaw Heights and John Glenn, they also couldn’t find the back of the net in both matches. On Monday, the Owls turned it up a few notches as they picked up a conference win beating Fairview 7-2. Oscoda scored four goals in the first half and never looked back. With the victory, Oscoda improves to 2-0 in conference play (North Star League).

Michael Wrona led the Owls in goals with three, while Aiden Backstrom, Kameron Thomas, Lewis Axline, and John Stephan each finished with a goal. On the other side, Isaiah Ford had a strong game for the Eagles where he finished with two goals on the night.

Oscoda (2-3) returns to action this Wednesday for a matchup against Whittemore-Prescott. Meanwhile, Fairview (1-1) will look to get back on track next Monday as they will head to Alcona to take on the Tigers.
