Braves snap six-game losing skid with win over Hurons

ROGERS CITY, Mich. — There have been some bumps and bruises along the way for the Tawas Braves boys basketball team. Going into Thursday’s game, the Braves were on a six-game losing streak. After 40 minutes of basketball, the losing streak has been snapped. The Braves get the job done in Rogers City, beating the Hurons 56-46.

Gavin Dukaj led the Braves in scoring with 24 points. Nicholas Maynard chipped in with 11 points and Alexander Kaems finished with six points. On the other end, Nick Freel paced the Hurons with 27 points and Matt Newhouse netted nine points.

Tawas (2-6) will return to action on Friday as they’ll be in Houghton Lake for a meeting with the Bobcats (1-3). The Hurons (4-5) will also return to action on Friday. They’ll head out to Bellaire for a contest against the Eagles (1-6).
