Alpena native is heading to St. Cloud State University

ALPENA, Mich. — Back on Jan. 2, Alpena native Emma Gentry helped Team USA claim gold at the 2020 IIHF U-18 Women’s World Championships in Slovakia, beating Canada 2-1. Not only she helped, but she put herself in the scoring column. During the semifinal game against Russia, Gentry was able to find the back of the cage at the 12:47 mark of the second period.

Just days after Team USA won the Gold Medal game, she made the trip back to her hometown as she stopped for a visit at Ella White Elementary School.  During her visit, she shared some of her experiences to the students on what it was like to play for Team USA.

Just recently, Gentry has signed her National Letter of Intent to play hockey at St. Cloud State University. This upcoming fall, she plans on majoring in Recreation and Sports Management with a minor in Athletic Coaching.

During the 2019-2020 season, Emma was playing downstate for the 19-U HoneyBaked Hockey team (Farmington Hills). In just 50 games, Gentry finished with 50 goals along with 26 assists.
