ACC men and women’s basketball teams fall in season opener

ALPENA — Despite hot starts in the first few minutes of each games, both the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks fall in their season openers.
The women’s team was up by 11 during the first half, but ultimately fell in the second half as they lose 50-72 Mid Michigan. The Ladyjacks made too many mental errors that they couldn’t recover from during the 3rd and 4th quarters. If they can clean up that part of the game, they’ll be in good shape going forward.
The men’s team matched Mid Michigan in the first few minutes of the game. A few turnovers later, the Lakers were up 16-6 and the deficit continued to grow. Alpena fell 111-49 in their first game of the season against a very talented Mid Michigan squad.
Look for both ‘jacks to improve on their season openers when they travel to Grand Rapids on November 16th. Alpena won’t play at home again until December 1st.
