Thank a corrections officer during National Correctional Officers Week

ALPENA, Mich. – Law and safety officials are celebrating national correction officers week.

Alpena County Steve Sheriff Kieliszewski encourages the community to thank local officers for what they do.

There are more than 6,400 correctional officers serving in the state of Michigan.

These professionals maintain the safety of state correctional facilities and ensure the health and well–being of those incarcerated, while protecting Michigan communities.

Correctional officers have been on the frontlines during the pandemic, as many prison and jail populations were affected by COVID–19.
