Student Artwork on Display at Alpena Community College Art Show

Hours upon hours of hard work were on display Friday night at Alpena Community College, all of it made by students.

The attention to detail was largely admired by the large crowd in attendance. “We have got painting, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, graphic design,” said Brian Schorn, program director of art and design. “Pretty much every medium we teach here we have represented tonight.”

The night’s featured artist was Magdalyn Weaver who carefully and methodically drew a very detailed octopus. “I love her so much. She’s my little pride and joy,” she said. “I put her out in the hallway when I was done with her and I just love to stare at her. She’s so much fun.”

Weaver said the talent of all of the artists involved is something is clear, and everyone’s projects turned out great. “Oh my gosh. So many talented artists this year,” she said. “I am blown away by everybody. The photography, the design, sculptures, ceramics. My friends were in all those classes and they did so good. I love them all.”

Schorn added that it may have been the largest turnout for their art show in the past five years.
