Alpena’s Living Hope Church Presents: A Christmas Story

Living Hope Church in Alpena premiered it’s annual winter season show on Sunday, December 10th. They chose to perform A Christmas Story during their regularly scheduled morning service at 10am. Members of the congregation as well as non-members in the community, united to celebrate Christmas early and attend the family friendly show.

“We have our kids and our youth, so all the way from our toddlers up to our high school kids performing. It’s called A Christmas Story and it’s Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever and so they’ll be doing kind of a different spin on the traditional Christmas story, including Christmas carols and then kind of some, how that connects us today.” said Kyla Avery, the office manager at Living Hope Church.

The show served as a semi-interactive experience allowing all who attended to sing along and dance to the songs. It was a community orientated event to bring the community closer during the holiday season.

“We do this every year, we celebrate Christmas, but how that can connect to us in our lives today and so it’s from a kids point of view which is kind of fun, but that makes it accessible for everyone. Whether you’ve heard the story a hundred times or this is your first time, it really helps connect why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.” said Avery

The show was a great opportunity to help residents in Alpena feel more connected to their community.
