Michigan traffic fatalities top 1,000 in 2020

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan drivers are encouraged to use extra caution as a new survey shows fatal crashes are up since the pandemic.

The Michigan Office of Highway and Safety Planning said state traffic deaths peaked above 1,000 for the first time in three years.

The data comes from a study conducted by the Michigan State Police.

This survey represents 30 percent of all traffic fatalities for 2020.
