Football’s First Look: Alcona
LINCLON,MI- Coming off of a 5-4 season in their first year playing eight man football, the Alcona Tigers are poised for a successful season in 2022. The team is just 10 days away from their season opener and have high expectations for themselves.
Head Coach Jason Somers is encouraged by the teams foundation and believes they have the talent to live up to their own high expectations. “The players put together a list of goals, the first was a winning season, the second was to beat the top teams in the North Star League,” he said.
The team has many players who also played 11-man football in 2019-20 and have made the adjustment to eight man. One of the seniors, Captain Hayden Johnston, wants this team to have a different attitude. “We need to be family, we need to pick up your teammates when things do not go well,” he said. “I want to be apart of that.”
The Tigers open the season on August 26 when they take on Mio-AuSable.
