Football’s First Look: Hillman

HILLMAN, MI – As the high school football season is fast approaching, the WBKB Sports team is wrapping up our previews around North Star League schools.

Closing last season with a 7-4, the Hillman Tigers are pushing to perform better than the year before. The Tigers look to head coach, Cody Allen, for the motivation and direction they need for the upcoming season. “There’s a lot of inexperience,” said Allen. “There’s going to be a lot to learn this season.”

If the motivation of Coach Allen isn’t enough, less experienced players can look to upperclassmen, such as junior quarterback, AJ Jones, for inspiration. “Don’t worry about the last play,” said Jones. “Just always focus on the next play.”

The Hillman football program hopes to keep their playoff tradition alive this coming season. “I think it’d put us at 17 years straight,” said Allen. “It’s a pretty good little record we’ve got going on.”

As anticipation for the upcoming season sets in, the Tigers remain focused on making a playoff appearance. The Hillman Tigers will face off against the Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals on August 26th.
