Cash Kroll Selected as New Alpena County Undersheriff

Cash Kroll has been announced as the new undersheriff of Alpena County.

A graduate of Posen High School and receiving an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Alpena Community College, he’s spent most of his life in northeast Michigan. “Northeast Michigan, I like to say, is God’s country,” he said. “We have a beautiful place here that is a great place to raise a family, and that’s why, after I got done with my schooling, I came back home and was fortunate enough to get a job close to my hometown. “

Kroll was sworn in as an Alpena County sheriff’s deputy in 2007 and moved to the road patrol division the next year. He was also selected as officer of the year in 2013.

Sheriff Erik Smith, who was sworn into his position in May, said Kroll is the man for the job. “My time here in Alpena was working with Cash and always had a longstanding respect for his work ethic and he’s a standup guy,” he said. “So, I have faith in him. I believe we share a lot of the same ethics.”

“Even though I take on this position, my responsibilities will become greater, but I will continue to serve the county of Alpena and all of it’s citizens,” said Kroll.

He was officially sworn in on Thursday.
