Bright skies going into the weekend with warming temperatures

Cloud cover remained persistent over Northeast Michigan throughout Thursday. A high pressure system near the western side of Lake Superior will bring clearing skies. Out ahead of the high pressure system, winds circulate out of the north, bringing cooler temperatures and lower humidity. Out west, on the other side of the high pressure system, winds circulate out of the south. Warmer temperatures are entering the Upper Plains. That warmer air will spread into our area over the weekend.

High temperatures today reached the middle to upper 70s throughout Northeast Michigan, cooler than the past couple of days. Temperatures got up to 77 degrees in Alpena, 79 degrees in Oscoda, Michigan and 75 degrees in Rogers City, Michigan.

Temperatures will reach the upper 70s Friday afternoon. Highs Saturday will get up to 80 degrees. Temperatures will continue to get warmer Sunday and Monday. Highs will climb to the middle 80s Sunday, then upper 80s Monday. Winds will shift out of the north Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures then.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Early-morning temperatures will drop to near 55 degrees. Afternoon highs will get up to around 78 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool from the lower 70s to 60s.

Saturday: Sunny. Make sure to stay cool and hydrated for any outdoor plans this weekend, and apply sunscreen. Predawn temperatures will head down to about 57 degrees. Late-morning temperatures will rise to the middle 70s. Afternoon highs will reach close to 80 degrees. Evening temperatures will go into the 70s and upper 60s.

Sunday: Sunny and warm. Early-morning temperatures will begin near 60 degrees. Temperatures will rise to the middle 70s in the late-morning. Afternoon highs will warm to around 85 degrees. Evening temperatures will head to the 70s.
