Saturday afternoon at the VFW in Alpena, a benefit dinner was held to help one local teenager who’s putting up one heck of a fight. Mark Nowak said, “We’re at the VFW hall in Alpena, Michigan, and we’re doing a benefit for Mya Hall, who has Multiple Myeloid Leukemia. She’s down in Ann Arbor getting treatment, she spent her 14th birthday down in Ann Arbor, and we’re doing this spaghetti dinner here today, as well as the live auction, as well as a large choice of baskets for people to donate and win prizes.”

The support for mya from the community was huge, with many local companies donating items for the auction and raffle. Even some bigger name companies also donated to the event to show support, and the support from everyone didn’t go unnoticed from the family members running the event. Nowak said, “Yeah, everybody really came together, the community did, friends and family are making this a great day for everybody today.”

Those who weren’t able to make it to the event, but still want to help out or donate to help Mya and the Hall family, can do so online. Nowak said, “Sure there is a Mya Hall fund. The other thing that Mya is going to need is a bone marrow transplant, and there is a match donor.” At the event, there was also information shared so anyone interested in seeing if they could be a match to anyone on the bone marrow transplant list, or future patients.
