Alpena HS Hires Eric Mackenzie as New Baseball Coach

ALPENA, MI- Alpena High School Athletic Director Jon Studley announced the hiring of Eric McKenzie as the schools new baseball coach. The school released a statement on the hiring.

Alpena High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Eric Mackenzie as its new Boys Varsity Baseball Coach. McKenzie has been coaching baseball for the last 4 years and has spent 10 years coaching student-athletes catching skills and techniques. Eric also serves on the Little League Board which is a direct feeder program for Alpena Baseball. Eric attended Alpena High School where he played hockey, baseball and football. Eric has worked for MDHHS for the last 12 years as a Children’s Services Specialist/Juvenile Justice Specialist. “We are excited to have Eric Mackenzie lead our baseball program” said Studley. Eric follows in his dad’s footsteps and knows what it takes to have a successful program. “Eric brings a great knowledge of baseball and played catcher for Hope College for 4 years.” “Eric’s passion for Alpena High School Baseball and our student-athletes was one of the many positives during the interview process.” Mackenzie said, “I am excited for this opportunity. I played baseball at Alpena High School and enjoyed my time as a student-athlete. I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of Alpena High School Baseball that was established by the previous coaches. I can’t wait to meet our great student-athletes and begin my tenure as the baseball coach.
