First of Three Goose Hunts in Alpena this Thursday
The first of three scheduled goose hunts is set for this Thursday, September 7, in Alpena.
The controversial practice was approved by the city last month by a vote of three to two. The public will be barred from entering Mich-e-ke-wis Park as well as the Alpena County Fairgrounds during the hunt from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The next two hunts are scheduled for September 14 and 21.
Last year, hunters at both locations managed to take in a total of 98 geese.
