Hurons’ big hits sweep Oscoda softball

Hurons' Taylor Fleming hits third home run of her senior season.

Oscoda, Mich. — The Oscoda Owls hosted Rogers City for a softball duel. The Hurons have put together a strong campaign this season after advancing to the state semifinals in 2018.

Rogers City defeated Oscoda in game one 16-0. In game two, the entire team stepped up at the plate. Senior Taylor Fleming hit her third home run of the season. Head Coach Karl Grambau has made it a priority in practice to work on batting technique. Oscoda’s Izzy Hulverson, Macy Kellstrom and Lauren D’Annunzio put the Owls on the board, but that was not enough as the Hurons defeated the Owls in game two 17-2. Kyrsten Altman pitched her first complete double-header of the year. The junior ended the day with 12 strikeouts.

Up next the Hurons play again on Monday, and Altman will be back on the mound.
