Vietnam Veterans of Alpena Host Annual “Operation Holiday” Food and Toy Drive
While we haven’t gotten to the holiday season just yet, it’s never too early to get into the giving spirit.
The Vietnam Veterans Alpena chapter is holding their annual “Operation Holiday” food and toy drive, which they’ve held since 1991. They started accepting donations today, and will continue to do so until 9pm tonight at the Thunder Bay Shopping Center. Starting next week, they will operate Monday through Saturday from 8am to 8pm, and Sunday from noon to 8pm. They collect cans and toys in Presque Isle, Montmorency, Alcona, and here in Alpena. One of the organizers, Tammy Kish, is optimistic that the community will turn out and donate.
“We’re hoping that everybody can still chip in and help us out, and make sure that families are fed for Thanksgiving, and not one child is left behind for Christmas,” she said.
