The 5th Down: Week 9

The high school football regular season has come to a close. While the season ended for some, others had one last chance to prepare for the playoffs.
The Rogers City Hurons were trying to finish off a perfect 9-0 season, they fell behind Hillman 16-0, before rallying for a 58-16 win to cap off the perfect regular season.
Au Gres-Sims looked to defend it’s North Star League title in the de facto championship game against 7-1 Posen. The Vikings led 16-14 at the half, before the Wolverines rallied behind star running back Keagan Bender to win 42-24 as Au Gres-Sims finishes the year at 8-1 and wins another NSL title.
The War on the Shore was a thriller as Oscoda took down Tawas 18-12 in double overtime. The 68th matchup between these rivals might have been the best one yet.
In other action, the Alpena Wildcats finished off the season with a 44-14 loss against St. John’s. Alcona took down Whittemore-Prescott 50-20. Despite finishing the season at 7-2, the Tigers are ineligible for postseason play due to the student body being too large for eight-man playoffs. The Atlanta Huskies took down Hale 60-14, finishing the season 4-5.
