After a season of nominations, the Alpena Salvation Army has found their new voice of Christmas.“The Salvation Army Honorary Red Kettle Chairperson is Marge Haaxma from Banner Realty,” said Major Prezza Morrison, corps officer and pastor at the Salvation Army. “We chose her because we see how much her and her agency does within the community to serve not only one organization but many organizations she serves. And we see and know she has a heart to serve the people in the community. So, when the nomination came in and our board discussed it, we said, yup, let’s go for it.”
As the chairperson, Marge will encourage and inspire during this holiday season. “She is the face and the voice of the community towards the Salvation Army,” said Morrison. “So, she’ll be out there promoting different things that we’re doing. She’ll be sharing on the 10th our Christmas goal, for this year’s Christmas goal, it’s a secret. She’ll be presenting that. Not only will she presenting our Christmas goal, but she also has a little challenge for the clubs. So you got to make sure you listen on that day to find out what her challenge is.
This will kick start the Salvation Army’s biggest season of giving, including their bell ringing fundraiser. “Days and times are filling up, and locations are filling up, so get in as soon as you can,” said Morrison. “But I know Marge is offering something of agency or the group that is raising the most money, so think about how you can participate in that.”
