The Process of Shooting a Music Video in Alpena

Brendon MacNeill, known by his stage name, “Brendon Mac,” is a country music artist from Alpena, and he is planning to shoot a music video in downtown Alpena on September 2nd.

He asked his longtime friend, Stephanie Couture to help set up the shoot. Part of that setup included requesting the shutdown of the street, and getting waivers for 400 people.

“He just wanted to remake ‘Stray Cats Rock This Town’ and remake the song and he wanted to come back to his hometown to do the video, and so he asked me to help, so I’m just kind of a longtime friend and now volunteer,” she said.

Couture has had to track down 400 people and get them to sign waivers to be featured in the music video, following a rigid diligence and making sure every guideline is adhered to, to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Working in a small town to shoot a music video has provided fewer complications, as the tight knit community of Alpena has been enthusiastic to help.

“This is about Alpena;” said Couture. “The whole town, the township, everything, but when you think about Alpena, the heart of a small town is downtown. So showcasing this video downtown is such an important thing.”

MacNeill has known couture’s daughter, Sadie, who has Down’s syndrome, has always wanted to be famous, so he made her a merchandise model, and she will get to sing at the after party.

“I said, ‘no guarantee on the vocals, but it will be entertaining,'” said Couture. “She just loves performing and she just loves the stage, and he’s just really, it’s pretty heartwarming that he wants to help make her dreams come true as well.”
