Downtown Scoops is open for the season

ALPENA, Mich. – They say life is always better with a few scoops of ice cream, especially now that a community staple’s doors are open for the season.

The doors are open, and all the flavors are out as Scoops Downtown has officially begun it’s season this week.

“We love it, you know, we’re all about the experience, and everyone’s experience is usually positive with ice cream,” said Owner of Scoops Aaron Buza.

Buza who’s owned Scoops for the last 5 years said you are in for a treat as all 24 flavors return for the 2021 season.

“Superman is our number one flavor; it’s only made in Michigan essentially, so a lot of people who grew up here and had to move away they come back and have that nostalgic feeling for it, it’s very sugary, very popular it’s good with the kids, “said Buza.

2020 was the year of change for many.

“We evolved as quickly as we could because we need to stay in business so, we did what we had to do to keep our ice cream flowing and to keep my employees working,” said Buza.

While the pandemic may have put a damper on operations last year, Buza said the ice cream made life for some a little sweeter and he hopes to do the same this year.
