Santa splash at Rockport State Park

ALPENA, Mich. — Great Lakes Divers partnered with Great Lakes, Great Responsibility to remove trash at Rockport State Park today.  The goal was to pick up one million pieces of trash in an effort to keep Rockport State Park safe and clean.  Great Lakes Diver, Stephanie Gandulla, said the lakes face many issues and said her bag was filled with single use plastics.

One of the young divers, Samantha Coleman, said she enjoys the adventure and exploring of diving but she emphasized the importance of being responsible and placing your trash in the appropriate places when visiting parks and beaches.

Commercial Diver, Megan Mainville, said she does hard-hat diving and said there is no experience like this.
