New debit cards for UI claimants

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency changed debit card providers from Bank of America to U.S. Bank.  This change results from a new State of Michigan contract.

Newly eligible claimants who choose the debit card option will receive the new card and currently active debit card holders, benefits will not be deposited onto the cards until August 25.

Individuals eligible to receive benefits have the option of direct deposit into their bank account or the option of choosing money to go on their debit card.
