Monday storm causes damage to homes in Greenbush

GREENBUSH, Mich. – An afternoon storm caused damage to homes in parts of Alcona County Monday.

High winds caused trees and debris to fall onto homes on East Cedar Lake Drive in Greenbush.

Residents said around 3 p.m. the clouds rolled in and the winds picked up.

One resident who watched the storm unfold said while people knew the storm was coming, they didn’t expect so much damage in such a short time.

“I saw a large opening coming towards the land side from the lake,” said E. Cedar Lake Drive resident Alex Demeter. “It was shortly after 10 and 3, the wind really picked up and all of a sudden this cool wind came in and with it there was a lot of sustained damage.”

Residents throughout the neighborhood were out Tuesday cleaning up debris and getting trees cut down at their homes.

According to a storm report from the National Weather Service, at least five tress were knocked down in the Black River area.”
