Local fire department responds to house fire

ALPENA,Mich.— The Alpena Township Fire Department responded to a house fire on Bradbury Road Tuesday morning. The fire occurred shortly after 11 am when the home owner reported a fire in the bathroom.

The resident was able to contain the fire with a home extinguisher until firefighters arrived clearing the smoke and putting the fire out completely. Alpena Township Fire Chief David Robbins says, “No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.”

Residents are encouraged to keep a multi-class fire extinguisher inside the home as a safety precaution.
