Local Comic Shop Bounces Back
ALPENA, Mich. — Following a series of challenges over the past few months, Alpena’s local comic shop is leaping back into action. The COVID–19 lockdown has hit many small businesses hard. Bob LeFevre, owner of Bob’s Bullpen comic book store, faced a shortage of comic books.
On March 23, a major distributor, Diamond Comics, announced they would cease delivery because of COVID–19. The result was a comic store with no new comic books.
LeFevre credits his ability to make it through the pandemic to his business’ flexibility and versatility. His restaurant, The Bulldog, continued delivery and he bundled back issues to help customers catch up on stories they may have missed.
