Joshua Wirgau Testifies Against Brad Srebnik in Second Day of Murder Trial

In the second day of trial for Brad Srebnik, who is accused of murdering both Brynn Bills and Abby Hill in 2021, long-time friend of Srebnik, Joshua Wirgau took the stand on Tuesday to testify against him.

(1/30/24) Brad Srebnik, accused of murdering Brynn Bills and Abby Hill in 2021, watches as long-time friend Joshua Wirgau testifies against him.

Wirgau claims that Srebnik along with Hill, had murdered Bills and brought her body to his house. He said he reluctantly helped the two burn and bury the body in his backyard using an excavator that Srebnik had rented. In the weeks following, Wirgau said Srebnik became more worried about Hill knowing too much about the murder. The three decided to camp out near the Holcim cement plant in Alpena where Srebnik then shot and killed Hill.

Wirgau claims he was unaware of Srebnik’s plans to kill Hill.

Wirgau eventually turned himself into police. At first, he lied to them about both incidents, but said that he wasn’t truthful in the beginning because he was afraid of what Srebnik would do to him or his family which includes two young children.

Wirgau’s testimony is part of a deal with prosecutors that promises a 15 to 30 year sentence which will be imposed following Srebnik’s trial. He will take the stand again on Wednesday.

Srebnik is charged with two counts of premeditated murder, weapons charges, and mutilation of a dead body.
