Jobs still remain open for Montmorency Corrections Officers to apply in Alpena

ALPENA, Mich. – Since the closing of the Montmorency County Jail — only one person has applied for several of the positions that remain open in Alpena

Recently the jail merged with Alpena County, and staff was given the opportunity to apply for open positions in Alpena.

WBKB reached out to Alpena County Sheriff Steve Kieliszewski who said he’d like to see more Montmorency corrections officers apply.

“We’d be thrilled because a majority if not all of them have already gone through the corrections academy, said Sheriff Kieliszewski. “So, we don’t have to worry about sending them there, and they have experience so very quick training. ”

Sheriff K said there could be a number of factors why Montmorency corrections officers aren’t applying including the distance to Alpena.
