FBI Agent on heading the Gov. Whitmer kidnap plot arrested

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – An FBI agent on the Governor Whitmer kidnapping case has been charged with assaulting a woman.

Richard Trask is charged with assault with intent to do harm.

Deputies said he beat a woman at his home last month.

Trask and his attorney didn’t answer questions during his court date Tuesday.

It’s still unclear if he will still testify against suspects accused of plotting to kidnap the governor.

Trask’s attorney called the FBI agent a great man while reading from a prepared statement outside the courthouse.

“Richard Trask is an honorable man who has served this community for many years,” said Attorney Sarissa Montague. “He’s spent his entire career protecting and serving his nation; he loves his family, his job and loves this country.”

According to reports the defense could use this arrest as way to undermine the FBI’s testimony in the Whitmer case.
