Isolated showers possible Friday afternoon, mostly dry
Mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures hovered over Northeast Michigan Thursday. A high pressure system over Illinois will keep skies mainly clear overnight to early Friday. Then some cloud cover will begin to move in around midday. An isolated shower will be possible during the afternoon.
High temperatures Thursday warmed to 67 degrees in Alpena, 70 degrees in Traverse City, Michigan and 68 degrees in Saginaw, Michigan. Afternoon temperatures will be similar Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for most of Northeast Michigan, while Oscoda County is under a Freeze Warning overnight. Particularly away from the shoreline, temperatures will head down to values near or slightly above the freezing mark. Light frost could potentially develop, affecting any exposed crops and vegetation.
There won’t be a whole lot of movement with the temperature trend over the next few days. Temperatures will be near to several degrees warmer than normal going through the weekend. Highs will reach the middle to upper 60s Friday afternoon. Highs will be around the middle 60s over the weekend. Temperatures will warm to the upper 60s or possibly close to 70 degrees Monday.
Friday: A chance of isolated showers in the afternoon, otherwise some sun. The UV index is very high so sunscreen will be necessary for any amount of time outdoors. Predawn temperatures will head down to about 38 degrees. Late-morning temperatures will rise to around 60 degrees. Afternoon highs will get close to 68 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool from the lower 60s to the 50s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy. Early-morning lows will be near 42 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach about 67 degrees. Evening temperatures will go from the lower 60s to the 50s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy. Early-morning temperatures will begin close to 44 degrees. Afternoon highs will get up to around 65 degrees. Evening temperatures will be mainly in the 50s.
