POSEN, MI – After falling to Alpena in a close 57-54 overtime loss, the Hillman Tigers fired back in a dominating 62-47 win over the Posen Vikings. In a tight game in the first half, the Tigers ran away with the lead in the second to earn the win.

All eyes were on Hillman’s Trenton Taratuta, who was only 11 away from clinching 1,000 career points. The junior guard finished the night with 1,018 points, securing his 1,000 point early in the second quarter.

The Vikings remained aggressive all night long, as Lucas Mercier put up some major points for Posen to stay in it. The Vikings led into the second half with a score of 24-22, and only trailed by one at the end of the third quarter.

Into the fourth quarter, the Tigers gained some momentum for the final push that brought them the win. Taratuta scored 29 points for Hillman as the Tigers pushed through to earn the 62-47 win over the Vikings.

Hillman gets a bit of a break as they take on the Au Gres-Sims Wolverines on January 12. Meanwhile, the Posen Vikings head to Brimley to face the Bays on January 10.
