POSEN, Mich.– Farmers Market patrons in Alpena can expect a new beverage this summer.
Presque Isle Farm announced that they received their permit to sell hard cider at the Alpena Farmers Market.
Farmer Dion Stepanski said the farm received their production certification in 2020 and began cider production shortly afterwards.
Stepanski also said this new product helps fill the farm’s schedule.
“So it kinda works symbiotically with the farm. In that way our peak season for vegetables is summer and our peak season for will be late fall and into winter, when we’re managing fermentations and managing cider.”
Stepanski said the farm produces its cider vintage–style, meaning they let the cider age for several months before preparing it for sale.
He and the farm hope to have the beverage for sale this spring or summer.
Keep in mind that hard cider is, by definition, alcoholic, and always enjoy responsibly
