House passes COVID recovery package

WASHINGTON, D.C.– The House of Representatives passed the American Rescue Plan Act early Saturday morning.
The nearly $2 trillion dollar bill passed on a slim margin, with 219 representatives in favor and 212 opposed.
The plan includes a $1,400 dollar direct payment to most Americans who earn under $75,000 per year. It also adds $400 per week for unemployment payments, and payments to families of up to $3,600 per child.
Democrats hope to get it through the Senate and on Biden’s desk by March 14.
