Game of the Week: Homecoming Hosts Au Gres-Sims Welcome Whittemore-Prescott
High school football teams around the area are getting prepared for their upcoming week four matchups. WBKB Sports has selected the battle between the Au Gres-Sims Wolverines and Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals as our Game of the Week.
The Wolverines are riding high with a current 3-0 record. The team is set to welcome in Whittemore-Prescott for their homecoming game on Friday night. Despite all the festivities, the Wolverines won’t let any distractions interfere with their game plan. Head Coach Brian Sanchez has told his players to keep it business as usual this week. “We try not to get too excited…so that when game times comes,” he said. “You can execute your plan.”
The Cardinals head into Friday’s game with a 2-1 record. Whittemore-Prescott is aiming for a chance to pull off the upset on their opponents’ field. Head Coach Joe Murphy is ready for his team to take advantage of the opportunity. “I’m sure they’re going to have a nice crowd there,” he said. “They’re excited for the opportunity to do something special.”
The Wolverines and Cardinals are quite familiar with one another. Au Gres-Sims is hoping to become a highlight of homecoming week. “We did our homework,” said Sanchez. “We put in a game plan that we feel is going to be our best option to shut them down.”
Additionally, the Cardinals are eager to have a shot against the defending Little Dipper champions. “They’ve been having all this success in the last few years and honestly we’re trying to get where they’re at,” said Murphy. “To do that, you have to beat them.”
Whittemore-Prescott is scheduled to visit Au Gres-Sims on September 15 at 7 p.m.
