Frost Advisory to begin the Memorial Day weekend, ends warmer

High temperatures today reached only 53 degrees in Alpena and 48 degrees in Chicago. Raw winds out of the northeast kept temperatures cool across the Great Lakes region. Notice the warmer temperatures building in the Plains, where highs got up to the 60s over North Dakota and South Dakota. That warmer air will move eastward over the weekend.

Temperatures will drop to the 30s overnight. The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory all across Northern Michigan. Temperatures will be cold enough to impact any exposed vegetation, so that should be covered or brought inside tonight. The Frost Advisory will be in effect from midnight to 8 a.m. Saturday.

Saturday: Sunny, a cool morning. Have the sunscreen handy for any outdoor activities this weekend. Early-morning temperatures will begin close to 36 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach about 60 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool from the 50s to upper 40s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, a little warmer. Predawn temperatures will drop to around 38 degrees. Late-morning temperatures will rise to almost 60 degrees. Afternoon highs will get up to near 68 degrees. Evening temperatures will head into the 50s.

Monday: Mostly cloudy, continues to get warmer. Early-morning temperatures will start off in the lower to middle 40s. Temperatures will rise to the lower 60s during the late-morning. Afternoon highs will warm to about 71 degrees. Evening temperatures will go from the 60s to upper 50s.
